Running Energy Bars - Fuel your run
Running Energy Bars | Sole Mate
Energy bars for running are a great cheat if you're pressed for time before getting out for your morning run, or you just can't stomach energy gels. Some people like to eat before a run, some people don't, but it is a personal preference. You also have to factor in the idea that having an energy bar bouncing around your stomach when you're running may cause some stomach issues.
What do I get in an energy bar?
Bars tend to be high in sugar and fat, but this isn't a bad thing if exercising for over 3 hours, as your body will need this fat (and proteins) as your carbohydrate stores run low. If you're not running for that length of distance or time, it doesn’t matter, you're going to burn more calories than you can eat, you just not need to draw upon fat reserves.
The sugars in the bars are your carbohydrates, your energy, so don't be nervous about sugar content in any running nutrition. They also double up as a perfect energy bar for cycling, and actually work even better than for running, as your stomach isn't bouncing with even turn of the pedals.
Sole Mate sell a few different bars in store and online, and recommend them all!
Hammer Nutrition's Raw Energy Bar, is basically their Hammer nutrition Perpetuem product in bar form. A good mix of Carbohydrate, Fats, Proteins and Electrolytes.
